Life on earth starts with
conception. As the vast majority of people on earth, so
was I conceived by my father and mother. Many children
today know only one or none of their biological parents.
I was lucky to know both of my biological parents. I
still know them today and they are still married today,
for which I am very thankful for.

I was born on
September 20th 1967 in the ancient Roman city of Worms at
the river Rhine in Germany. North of Worms on the map
you will find the little town of Nordheim. There my
mother grew up on her parents farm. I probably spent
most of the first four years of my life there until my
parents built a house in Wetzlar, my father's home town.
Nordheim is roughly 60 km (40 miles) south of Frankfurt, Wetzlar is
that much north of Frankfurt.
I spent 15 years of my life in Wetzlar; going to school
13 years to get the Abitur and one year in the army.
Then I went to college from summer 1987 to summer 1992
in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen. Because it was near
Nordheim I asked my uncle to live with him and his
family. I got my electrical engineering degree in 1990
in Mannheim and added a business degree in 1992 in
Ludwigshafen. In my spare time I helped my uncle on his
farm and partied often with the young farmers.
After college was finished in 1992 I traveled across the
USA for three month to get to know the "promised land".
I liked it so much, that I decided to spend the rest of
my life there. I just needed to figure out how to
immigrate. Until that I lived for another five years in
the area, while working various jobs. I spent three
years on power plant construction sites commissioning
control systems for six different power plants, mostly
in East Germany.
In 1997 my life changed drastically as I had the
opportunity to work for a company in Virginia.
Unfortunately this job lasted only a year and my
immigration odyssey began, which let me to custom
harvesting and Kansas, where I am living since 1998.
After 8 years of harvesting my last employer sold his
business. I took the skills I learned on the harvest and
obtained a job as a technician at a
John Deere
dealership, where I am still working today. |
