As most everybody else so I was taught the evolution
theory in school. At the time I already believed in God and thought to
myself, that evolution must be a more detailed description of how God
actually created the earth with all its plants and animals.
It was not until I came to America and noticed the heated controversy
between evolution and creation, that I started searching deeper. In
today's society it is an either or and nothing in
between. So it was quite interesting when I found out, that with God
there is no middle ground either. As Jesus stated in Mt12:30 and
Lk 11:23 “He who is not with me is against me, and he
who does not gather with me, scatters",
it is
not possible to straddle the fence. Many schools support Jesus'
statement by making a clear decision between evolution and creation and
ensuring, that only one of the two is taught.
The question is:
What is the truth?
evolution or creation?
Lets examine the evidence.
In evolution the earth is
supposed to be millions of years old, but no one can prove this.
Everything started with one cell. and eventually all species came about
little by little and by accident or chance. This theory however
contradicts one of the most basic laws of chemistry, which says, that
all matter always aims for the state of maximum disorder. That means if
I put two substances together they always aim to spread or mix as much
as possible - no order here, just ask a chemists.
Evolution claims, that through
little steps and small changes at a time one species changes into
another. Out of apes become humans. So why don't all apes go this route
and turn into humans? Where are all these in between creatures? If there
is evolution the change must go on, or if not, why has it stopped?
Can it really be that
matter + chance + time = your brain ???
Where did the very first cell
come from?
If the dinosaurs really
existed, why have they died?
If there really was an ice age and climate change, why are so many so
worried about another climate change and are trying to prevent it?
If we came into existence through survival of the fittest, why do so
many humans feel they need to help the disadvantaged and the needy? Where do
these social behaviors come from?
What makes a single cell divide itself? What force makes a plant grow to
a certain stage and produce fruit?
So many questions which
evolution can not answer.
The bible however is clear and
answers all these questions. God created the earth and every being in it
as we can read in the first chapters of Genesis. During the first years
of the earth humans got very old (Genesis 5). Noah for example lived 950 years
(Ge9:29). After that God cut the live span of humans much shorter
(Ge6:3).
The animal world is much more influenced by human doing than commonly
assumed. In Genesis 2:19 God had Adam name all the animals. From
Scripture we can learn, that a name is not just a word or a means to
call a person, it has spiritual power. That is why God changes Abram's
name to Abraham. That is why Jesus teaches us to pray in His name. When
we make it to heaven and succeed in life Jesus promises to give us a new
name: REV 2:17 "...To him who
overcomes, ... I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on
the stone which no one knows but he who receives it."
With the name giving Adam was also given power over the animal kingdom.
Therefore when Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the forbidden tree and
were punished the animal world changed, too.
In the Garden of Eden only plants were eaten (Ge2:9). When Adam and Eve
were banished from the Garden God took skin (Ge3:21), mostlikely from an
animal to close them. Later their son Abel had flocks, which
concludes, that animals were first used for food. After The Flood God
officially declares animals to be food. In Genesis 9:2-3 God renews
men's dominion over the animals and declares everything to be food for
men.
Dinosaurs:
The long lifespan of man in his
early days and the connection to the animal world lets us conclude, that
early animals got very old, too. Today we also know that reptiles never
stop growing until the day they die. A several hundred year old reptile
would be huge - like the size of - as you might guess - a dinosaur. In
the big Flood the dinosaurs got killed and never got old enough to grow to that size
again. There is even a description of dinosaurs in the bible. Just check
out Job 40:15-41:10.
Population:
The population growth is another evidence. Since we know the current
population on the earth and the average growth rate we can calculate
back to how many years it took to get where we are now. This is the same
mathematic formula the bank uses to figure out compound interest on a
loan or savings.
In the past 200 years we have a documented annual growth rate of the
world population of a little less than half a percent per year or an
average of 2.5 children per family. The population growth started after
the big flood with 4 families consisting of Noah and his three sons.
(GE 9:19 These three were the sons of
Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.)
4500 years later we end up with a calculated population of about 6.5
billion. This is what we actually have today.
Evolution claims that the first man lived 500.000 years ago. If we apply
the same growth rate of 2.5 children per familyr we end up with a number
of 2.45x10990
people. This is a number with 990 zeros. This amount of people would not
even fit on the earth.
Taking care:
In Mt 6:26 Jesus tells us: "Look at
the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them."
Jesus makes it clear, that God takes care of His creation and sustains
it. He is the force behind everything. What else could make new life out
of joining an egg and a semen and grow a new living being by fusing two
halfcells?
God has planted our social
behavior in our hearts. But unfortunately their is the devil who is
constantly working on luring us to do wrong, hurt people and in the end
hurt
ourselves.
If there was only evolution and no
God
What if there was no God and
just the survival of the fittest? Then it would not matter if a teenager
takes a gun to school and kills his fellow school mates and teachers. It
would not matter if I take my neighbors car. It would not matter if a
woman aborts her baby. If I am the fittest, I would decide what is
wrong and right. If this life was all there is, I would just try to get
the most out of it and when I have enough of the rat race I just kill
myself and opt out.
What is the purpose of life without
God?
Eventually evolution can be uncovered as another lie
from satan, with the purpose to draw us away
from God and to follow him.
